We should be outraged over the billions of tax dollars of energy subsidies that Congress doles out to mature polluting industries, not over the modest support it gives to renewable power.

Cape Wind Receives Coastal Zone Management Consistency Determinations

January 26, 2009 – Cape Wind has received approval from the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZM) in the form of two consistency determinations. Following on the heels of the favorable Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) from the Minerals Management Service released on January 16th, these determinations will now allow for federal agencies to finalize Cape Wind’s permitting.

Cape Wind Project Draws Near As Final Report Released
BOSTON, MA, January 16, 2009 -- After seven and a half years of comprehensive environmental review, scores of public hearings and community meetings, and energy challenges that make Cape Wind more essential now than when it was first proposed in 2001, the lead agency in charge of offshore energy projects today released its 2,800-page Final Environmental Impact Statement on Cape Wind.

State Agency Approves Cape Wind’s Waterways Application

BOSTON, MA, DECEMBER 23, 2008 – The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has approved Cape Wind’s Chapter 91 Waterways Application.
In the letter notifying Cape Wind of their decision, a DEP official stated, “the Department determines that the proposed project serves a proper public interest which provides greater public benefit than detriment to the public’s rights in said tidelands”.
