Cape Wind Completing Geophysical Surveys; Aided by Four Massachusetts Companies

BOSTON, MA – Cape Wind has today announced that a team including three companies based in New Bedford, Massachusetts, is involved with completing geophysical surveys of the project site and offshore cable routes.

Survey vessels with a suite of geophysical instruments are surveying the seafloor and subsea geology on Horseshoe Shoal and along the offshore cable route.

BOSTON, MA – In a set of major legal victories for the Federal Government and for Cape Wind, United States District Judge Reggie B. Walton today issued rulings against project opponents in their four lawsuits that had challenged Cape Wind’s permitting approval by the U.S. Department of Interior.

Cape Wind Signs Major Cables Contracts

BOSTON, MA, March 13, 2014 – Cape Wind announced today that South Carolina-based Prysmian Cables and Systems USA has been awarded the contract for the eventual supply of the intra array and export power cables for Cape Wind’s offshore wind farm and New Jersey-based Caldwell Marine International has been awarded the contract for the installation of the underwater cables.  The new contracts mark significant project milestones.

BOSTON, MA – Cape Wind today again defeated the efforts of its opponents to block the country’s first offshore wind farm.  In a significant decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld the FAA’s approval of the Cape Wind project, rejecting every argument that had been advanced by the project’s opponents.

Cape Wind Signs $15 Million Contract with Cape Cod Construction Contractor, Lawrence-Lynch Corp.

BOSTON, MA – Cape Wind has signed a $15 Million contract with Falmouth-based Lawrence-Lynch Corp. to provide the upland construction work required to bury Cape Wind’s electric cables.  Lawrence-Lynch Corp. will also be responsible for providing a conduit for connecting the buried electric cables on land to the submerged ocean submarine cables by using a ‘directional drill’ from the landfall point in West Yarmouth out to a temporary cofferdam they will construct in Lewis Bay.
