The leading opposition organization in the fight against a Boston developer's proposal to erect 130 wind turbines in Nantucket Sound did not bring in as much money in 2006 as it did during either of the previous two years.
...Schedule B of the tax form for nonprofit organizations includes, for the Alliance, any contribution greater than $5,000. The largest contribution on the list was $450,000 and the smallest was $50,000. No names or addresses were included on the form and Wattley declined to release the names of any of the Alliance's contributors.
Republican Jim Ogonowski, after touring UMass Lowell last week and seeing some of the research being done on renewable energy, came out in favor of the Cape Wind project.
He challenged his Democratic opponent Niki Tsongas to join him in asking Sen. Edward Kennedy to give up his opposition to the project.

Wattley to lead fight against Cape Wind
Glenn Wattley does not apologize for being associated with coal.
"Yeah, I started in the coal industry but I've done a lot of other things," he said in an interview at the offices of the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound yesterday.
The 54-year-old business and investment consultant's most recent undertaking is as the new chief executive officer of the Alliance.
Group fighting Cape Wind names new leader
An energy industry expert has been tapped to become the new chief executive officer for the well-heeled and vocal anti-Cape Wind group, the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound.
Glenn Wattley has previously served as an energy consultant for the nonprofit group.
A coal industry insider, Wattley has been a frequent commentator on energy issues and utilities in the national media.
Environmentalists had never seemed to agree with union man Marty Aikens.
On August 7, the Daily Show With Jon Stewart aired a segment on Cape Wind.
